It's been entirely too long since I've updated. I can honestly say that it's been a crazy many months with a lot of news to share.
First, I'm now working full time at Atlantic Theater Company as their Institutional Giving Associate. It's a fantastic place to work, and I'm certainly learning a lot each day. I've always respected the work that Atlantic does, and I couldn't be happier to be working in a place that's so devoted to acting and producing great theater.
Second, after some difficulties this summer with scheduling rehearsals for a Fringe show around my full-time job, I decided that there had to be some sort of venue where artists could balance demanding jobs or commitments with creating theater. A couple friends of mine shared this opinion, and together, we formed Libra Theater Company. We've received fiscal sponsorship from Fractured Atlas, and it's been a great few months. Libra has hosted a great line-up of monthly play readings - from The Glass Menagerie to Antigone to, most recently, Prelude to a Kiss.
In addition, this May, we're launching two productions. The first is The Entropy Songs by Joshua H. Cohen. A number of the songs from Post No Bills are featured in Entropy, and I'm so thrilled that Libra is taking on Josh's piece. The second is Fleet Week and Other Reasons to Sail, a series of concerts featuring 24 songs by composer/lyricist team Sam Carner and Derek Gregor. While I'm spearheading the production of Entropy, I'll actually be performing a number of songs in Fleet Week. These are amazing opportunities, and I'm so glad that Josh, Sam, and Derek have become a part of the Libra family.
Finding a balance between all of this has certainly proven difficult, but I've been managing... I'll be sure to keep you updated on all the news!
